14 July 2010: The Congress party may have lost its instinct for politics but opposition leaders like the Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar, haven't. So while Nitish Kumar has deigned to attend a meeting of chief ministers of Naxalism-affected states called by the prime minister, after earlier politely ignoring several summons from the Union home minister, P.Chidambaram, that may still not amount to much. It will be a while before any coherent strategy to counter the Maoists will take effect on the ground, and politicians like Nitish Kumar will be in no hurry to err in that direction.
