27 August 2010: Unfortunately, China's latest provocation of denying the Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General B.S.Jaswal, travel permission will be met with immediate anger and long-term complacence. The Jaswal episode and the previous controversy of stapled visas for Kashmiris would be bracketed together and analyzed as China's support for its beleaguered all-weather ally, Pakistan. But it is altogether more serious and basic than that. China is opposed to India's "peaceful rise" and will do everything to scuttle it. If Pakistan is direly engaged to inflict a thousand cuts on India, China is prosecuting a psy-war against this country, of which the border dispute, that it now hopes will encompass J and K, in addition to Ladakh, occupies centrespace.
