The situation is yet another gift of American diplomacy to the entire world (Commentary, "Bombay & Lahore," 4 March 2009). Successive American establishments helped create Al-Qaida and Taliban. They blindfolded themselves when these two organizations grew. They supported Saudi royals who till date fund most of the terrorism worldwide. They aided Pakistan which in turn siphoned-off large portions of the aid to create organizations like Lashkar-e-Toiba. They have been mishandling the so-called "War On Terror" for quite some time now. The theory of "Caliphate Pakistan" looks plausible. One is afraid, however, that before the West, especially the Americans, understand the gravity of the situation, the Taliban savagery would have already been inflicted upon millions of people across the sub-continent. For India, it looks that the worst is yet to come.
