Elections do and should get priority over sports or business events (Commentary, "Money talks," 23 March 2009). But at the same time, it cannot be the case that nothing else happens for the forty-five days of elections. Government should find ways to provide security to such events. It is irrational to argue that the home minister should not be questioned on matters of security. Not providing security amounts to accepting foreign concerns about India's security situation post 26/11 and the Lahore attacks.
