13 July 2009: While concern is focusing and peaking (correctly) on the US-pressured G-8 decision to deny enrichment and reprocessing (ENR) technologies to NPT hold-outs like India, it is also time to address general apprehensions on the course Indo-American relations have taken under prime minister Manmohan Singh. The PM was completely out of sync with growing concerns about the G-8 decision, taken under directions of the Obama administration, when he told reporters flying back from Italy, "I find President (Barack) Obama very supportive (towards India)...I spent considerable time with him...We exchanged notes on a large number of issues while sitting side by side at the meeting...There is no basis for any apprehension that the Obama administration is not supportive towards us...."
