12 February 2010: The more closely you examine India's dialogue offer to Pakistan, the more it defies reason. Aware that adverse Indian public opinion and political opposition will never again permit negotiations on Jammu and Kashmir, the Manmohan Singh government has restricted the dialogue to counter-terrorism. In its latest statement, the US has hoped that the dialogue process will contribute to reducing terrorism and have the effect of raising security in the sub-continent. Pakistan was reluctant for a dialogue restricted to counter-terrorism and not including J and K, but the US has appeared to change its mind, which is nothing to exult from the Indian side.
